My name is Joe Laschet.
I am a blogger for classic menswear and a entrepreneur from Germany.
Currently I am publishing a book about the Gentleman fashion and the lifestyle around it.
Joe, What is elegance for you? and classic men style?
Elegance can be two things:
Your general appearance or your behaviour.
When you dress classy you certainly look elegant. A suit will do the best work, when you have a good tailor and choose the right combination.
You also can act elegant, when you are polite and have the right manners.
Why try to be elegant in today's society?
Our time is dominated by so called casuality.
Dress codes are no longer a must, even not in the office. Most men choose to dress comfortable and casual. But there is no reason why you can’t dress comfortable in a nice suit.
Dressing elegant is a form of respect for yourself and others. So it’s always important to dress elegant.
To be elegant today is to be classic or to be rebellious?
To be elegant today is definitely a rebellious move.
And being rebellious is a good thing!
Now that the norm is relaxed style and that seems a given to most of us, doesn't the real rebellion come from the classic style?
The last decades it was rebellious to dress casual.
Now it changed, because most men have a relaxed style.
Casual clothes are the new establishment.
So let’s be rebellious and bring back classic style.
Can comfortable style definitely sweep away classic elegance?
Never!
A new impetus today among young people?
Young people start to dress more elegant again.
I am sure, that the time will change again.
Away from fast-fashion and streetstyle and back to classy elegance.
